Just buy a Windows version of the game and all your problems go away.

Wine can emulate Windows and Grimrock plays just fine on it.

That is a terrible suggestion in at least 5 different ways. You will probably get inferior performance and the game will look like shite compared to the native Linux version: compare the two screenshots here.
