Fighter(Paladin) - Human
Fighter/Cleric - Dwarf=Tank
Thief - Halfling
Mage - Human or Elf or Half-Elf

Each race with your own unique abilities! Remember that and take race carefully for some classes!!!
Funny, just started a new playthough with EoB1, using almost that exact setup. My thief is an elven thief/mage and I took a pure human cleric over a pure mage, though.^^

My first playthorugh on LoG will be the classical warrior, warrior, mage, rogue.

I hope the game will be hard on "hard" mode, but I'm confident I've got some skills and enough patience to beat the life out of all these creepy creatures even with 3 characters in my party...
Apparently Hard is a real challenge! Harder than Dungeon Master on Hard anyhow.

No hard for me, life 's hard already in the real world. Normal? Definitely... Easy? Not a chance... Normal and Hand-drawn maps I believe is the best combo.

Warning: our Normal difficulty setting is similar to "Hard" in most modern games. Hard means hard in LoG.

Yeah Normal and no maps is what I'm going for. For my second play through I may choose hard with maps. :)

This will be my first foray into dungeon crawling of this style in a while - I will go with Normal mode, and I'm still debating hand-drawn vs automap, most likely with the pre-generated party.

I've been spoiled over the past few decades of gaming with mapping, but I can imagine it being a blast doing it by hand, though it will take more time.

I guess a question here would be appropriate, if it can be answered - once I have cleared a section, of the dungeon, will monsters respawn? I ask only because if I am to be drawing the maps, I'll need to know if I should pause the game, or if I can just let my folks sit there while I update the next few squares.

I realize that they will need food, and if they run out, they'll kick the bucket - hopefully I'll be faster drawing the map than their food consumption will be.

*edit -- just found this (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=148) post which answers one of my questions! (seems pausing to map is definitely an option)

According to the devs, monsters "usually" do not respawn. So in general you should be safe, unless you're near one of the exceptions, which I'm guessing will probably be relatively obvious.

That being said, might as well just pause anyway and avoid using up food.

Like many of you, for my first play-through I plan to create use all four races and create 2 fighters, 1 rouge, and 1 mage:

Asterius - Minotaur Fighter who specializes in dealing pain with two handed weapons, knocking down doors, and carrying equipment.
Shazak - Lizardman Fighter or Rogue (depending on racial stats)
Kohr-Ah - Insectoid Mage (assuming racial description indicates stats for a mage)
Cyrene - Human Rouge or Fighter (depending on the stats for Lizardmen)

I am curious to see how each racial type plays according to the class they were designed to represent according to their racial attributes. The rune based magic system seems promising, and I hope there are tomes or scroll fragments scattered throughout the dungeon to provide a deeper history of this fantastical realm.

I think that choosing to play 2 mages depends if there is a roadcross in a mage development (ie.:one mage becomes destructor, another healer, while each cannot use the other's skills).
Personally I'm going to play with 3 characters (if I can to not choose whole party of 4) because there are only 3 classes and I like to have different characters with different skillset.
For example - Fighter, Rogue, Wizzard, Sorcerer (while last two have different skill set and/or), but in LoG is fighter, rogue and mage - 4 slots but only 3 different classes.

Have any of you noticed if two chracters within same class can be different? - I saw only different "traits" (whatever it is)...
