That save error usually happens when a "global" variable has been stored as something not allowed (allowed are strings, true/false, or number)

Thank you for your input Komag, this was the reason of the error drdrake was experiencing. We had to learn about this the hard way: When we developed the mod, we were not aware of this issue until past halfway in development, when I first ran the mod as an expoted .dat file. When I noticed this, I had to go through all of the scripts in the dungeon again to remove the global variables. Apparently I missed those two occurences that lead to the error drdrake was experiencing.

Any hints to pass the pits room? I got there after being bitten by a spider.

Hello elPuSher,

great to hear that you have advanced to this level , hope you still like the mod so far ;) As last time, here are some hints first and then the solution:

Hint 1:
SpoilerShow
There is no secret trick you need to solve this puzzle. It is all about trying out all possible paths. You might have noticed that when you step on the first closed pit, It will open a way with two different branches. Once you have reached the end of one branch, a new way opens and so on. If you try every possible branch you will find the way to the exit eventually.
Hint 2:
SpoilerShow
You might notice that sometimes a way is created over the pits that resembles a spiral. Approximately like this:

XXXXXXXXXX_
_________X_
__XXXXX__X_
__X___X__X_
__X______X_
__XXXXXXXX_
_________XX

X = closed pit
_ = open pit

At this point don't follow the spiral to it's center! There is a small different way going away from the spiral. (colored in red in the "image" above). Take this way! This is not the final way to the solution yet, but it is the right way to take because the center of the spiral will only open up an "old" way you have already seen before.
Hint 3 / solution:
SpoilerShow
From the beginning (you can jump in the pits if you want to restart the puzzle):

1. Step on the first closed pit. This opens the first two branches.
2. Take the branch to the left. This opens the next branches.
3. Take the branch to the right.
4. Now the spiral structure as pictured in hint 2 appears. Take the small "red" way to the left, NOT to the center of the spiral!
5. Now there is a way that splits up in the middle. Take the way to the right. Two new ways appear.
6. Take the way to the left. This will make one new way to appear. If you look at the exit now, you might notice that this is already the way to the exit!
7. Follow the new way to the exit. Don't take any of the possible branches as this will cause the way to the exit to disappear.

Hello JimBob,

nice to see there is a new "Intern" around ;)

The solution to your problem is most likely:
SpoilerShow
The orb is an usable item. You need to right click on it in the inventory as soon as the ghost is standing over his corpse. Right clicking on the orb on the "hand" slots of your character won't do unfortunately, as the Grimrock Engine only allows this for weapons. :roll: Oh and just to make sure: You are able to see the ghost already, right? If not, you need to create and drink the ghost visiblity potion first. The recipe is in one of the diary pages.

General News:

User bongobeat has pointed out before that the mod did not work on linux and mac machines due to wrong sound file formats. We have fixed this by resampling all sounds to the correct format. The new version is already uploaded into the Grimrock Nexus and to the Steam Workshop, so enjoy and please post a comment if you run into any problems.

Yes, I am enjoying the mod a lot. It's like no one I have played before. Very innovative. Also a lot of humour touches.

I will try as suggested (using hints first). Thank you very much.
