Wow, not being the "only" programmer must have been a tough decision, have to let go of the reigns little bit, have to let someone come in with different ideas and opinions and ways of organizing code and notes and stuff.

A blog post is out! This time I'll talk about procedural levels in Druidstone.

@Komag: Hehe, it's a little bit scary but it's been great, at least so far ;-) Being able to talk about the code with someone else really helps boost my productivity too. You know, it's so easy to become blind when working alone!

2. Procedural games with some predefined content. For example, most roguelikes have special rooms that are handmade (often called “vaults” in roguelike jargon).
The opposite of https://sourceforge.net/projects/nazghul/
All maps are hand-made, except one dungeon which is entirely procedural, and easy to get lost in if you don't have a teleport-back-to-surface scroll.
In addition to these randomly chosen rooms there are special key encounter rooms that can only appear in predetermined points in the game. The key encounters usually advance the story but they may also be some cool moments or bad-ass boss fights.
Does the game tell you that you're in a key encounter room?
I hope not, it would be nice if you had to figure out for yourself which rooms are important.

It's gonna be interesting to see how people will make walkthroughs for this game.

Ah, I had missed that one. Hope you had a nice time off. I agree with the iteration approach, keeps you moving and not burned out on any one section, allows some time before you come back so you can see with fresher eyes, etc.

It's August now! Your vacation time is done! And the game will be done by next week, right?

Right?

Kidding aside, I hope all of you got the much need breaks and enjoyed your freedom!

I would definitly love a game editor for this.

I would try to make a game like Vandal Hearts.

Very interested.
