Upps - never mind - it's a bug that a secret button is indicated there by the third eye!
If I ever release another update of the mod this should be fixed.

I do not get what you are asking about the light spell. What are you trying and what doesn't work?

You've answered the question. I meant the blob of light that the face emitted. Since there is no second puzzle, the problem doesn't exist. i am now ready to go to the next area. Thanks.

I'm stuck very early on, in
a dark room with leeches after a cave-in in the Cellar of the Townhouse
. I've tried picking up any items I could find, which seems to trigger more
, but I can't seem to find enough stuff. Any tips?

Regarding your first question: I haven't played this mod in a LONG time, but I think I remember that you just had to avoid stepping on their eggs (or their nests) and they wouldn't appear. However, if you were good enough in combat to overcome that, I think there was a reward (I don't remember this part very well). Regarding your second question, if you post a screenshot, I might remember something.

Concerning the dark snails: Don Emilio is right - avoid disturbing their nests.
There is still a way through the room - you have to find an alternative path. At the the end you may get a revard.
But when re-reading your post now, you may refer to another spot in the cellar: A room where the entrance gets caved in and you have to find an exit?
Well, there is one. Mind the walls, the bricks.
