Good to see everyone ready to jump back into the fray!

What we did with round one (and it took some gentle prodding at first) was that, after a designer had completed his room, he came onto the thread and announced which (if any) custom assets he had added.

It looks as if we'll be ready to launch a signup thread today! :D
Neikun wrote:Another thing that occurs to me is, if someone wants to show off tileset work, they should be able to do it, but only using relevant assets, and not a whole wallset.
I agree completely, my argument being a certain mirrored room in the first RR!
Komag wrote:they [re: Steam] seriously need to raise that ancient limit, put it more like 500 or 1GB
+1 on this! Not that they'll be reading it here, but still...I've got yer back.
Asteroth wrote:Okay, you people now need to vote for rainbow unicorns as the theme. Quick before he escapes!!
(Wow, I abstained from hijacking your thread for a long time.)
Hmmm...now that I think of it...I can come up with something for that. :D

OOH!!!! IDEA!!!!! :D:D:D

Ok, so it seems as if we're all good on using Dropbox. [strike]They now have a team dropbox, so I think I'll look into setting that up.[/strike]Once I found it that 22 team members would cost almost US$3k annually, I pretty much let that idea go. IF YOU ONLY WANT TO DOWNLOAD THE FILE: Do nothing. I'll pm you the link when your turn comes. IF YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN FILE MANIPULATION / .TXT CONVERSATIONS, ETC (think: Google Docs): You need to join dropbox and PM me the email address you used, so that I can invite you to the RR Folder. This will let us avoid spoilers in the forum thread (Better yet, PM me your email addy before you join, and let me invite you through dropbox. This will get us an additional 500mB per new member to play with.). I'll keep backups of each version on my own hard drive as well.

3x3x9 sounds like a winner as well. Shall we use the map already made? [EDIT TO ADD: I meant 9x9x3!! rofl! Although 3x3x9 sounds pretty awesome! :D]

Custom Assets: Sounds like we're all kind of on the same page here, too. If Temple wallset is alright with everyone, we'll start off with that, add Phitt's Cozy Dungeons, and ask everyone to please post any additional custom assets they use in the official signup/discussion thread.

It seems as if, at least for this round, that the idea of a theme is not going to pan out, as everyone seems kinda 'meh' about it. AFAIC, a themed RR is a great idea, but the fact that we're already changing the parameters by limiting room size is our "theme" for this time around. Maybe we should start a discussion of a true themed RR whilst working on this one, so we can get the storyline/assets in place? Or should we scrap it altogether?

Well, if you guys are ready, I think we're in a good place to start the signup thread. Shall I? :)

I see no reason why those who want to make a themed collaborative dungeon can't form together and make one. The only thing is, obviously SpiderFighter won't be overseer to both of them. That's too much strain.

Oh, absolutely! But if it's going to be a themed "one room round robin" dungeon, then I'd rather we wait until the next round.

If we all like the central hub area, I'll also continue designing that. I already have made the dungeon template with the 9x9 rooms set-up on all levels, I'll put it as a starting point on the dropbox for the first modder.

Even if the central room is not finished, I can work on it in parallel and "integrate" updates when the file gets passed from one modder to the next.

I may need some modelling help for that, I'll get in touch with skuggs.

Very exciting to hear that Round 2 is likely to be coming soon. Dropbox is a good solution, on top of all of the above comments - it also gives you a free 30 day rollback feature just in case. I'm sure if a few of us have access to the folder however, there will be enough backups floating around that nothing can go wrong... (*COUGH*).

While I've had lots of ideas and thoughts, the only thing I feel really strongly about is that the dungeon should be broken down into regions, where each region only requires you to solve 4 out of 5 (say) puzzles in order to proceed. If you can select your region at the start, even better - but that's not so much of a worry. What I would like to combat with this is a user getting stuck on a puzzle in room 5 and never seeing the hard work of the next 15 people.

This makes a goodly amount of sense, IMHO.

I totally agree too.

Right now we have 3 main "levels" of 8 rooms each. It could be split in batches of 4 - you need 3 keys to advance. Passage from one section to the other would involve crossing cool bridges in the central room.

Are bonus keys for end game loot still viable, do you think?

Man this sounds awesome, I wish I could join in but my skills are too low :(

As for themes have you guys considered something like this?

A group of adventurers comes to the great temple, seeking the blessings of the gods (who are you guys, I think thats fitting), each of you chooses your own theme as the type of god you want to be (a chance to show off your personality perhaps) and the players have to complete a task to earn a token of your favour (be it better gear to help out on other rooms or keys) in the end they only have to earn so much favour to enter the great hall a recieve a blessing but more favour would give a better ending.

as for doors and halls physically connecting rooms on the same levels, why not teleports, but keep the stairs going down they look awesome

I think we're all on board with you, Diarmuid! Any news on your collab with Skuggas? We can wait until you're happy with the design before starting if that would make things easier. No telling what could happen once we all get our grubby mitts on it!

@LocalFire: The theme idea seems to have fizzled out for now. The "forum members as Gods/entities" thing has been played out in a couple of different areas I believe (see Mahric's excellent Awakening of Taarnab), but I like your idea of earning favour for a better ending..very creative!
