Kickstarter for iPad port?

An iPad port is an obvious evolution for the game, and from some of these threads it'd no doubt be well-received (god knows I'd love one), but I also know that it'd be a bit of a gamble for the devs. Porting isn't as simple as loading up OS Converter 3.0 and feeding the program; it's a lot of work with no real guarantee of how well it'd do.

So why not a Kickstarter fund? Lots of indie developers are turning to it (I'm already pledging for the new Tim Schafer one, and the Shadowrun iPad port) and it's a great way of gauging the market and setting your price in advance with no risk. Just pick a number, set some rewards*, and give it a month to percolate. If you meet (or, more likely, surpass) your goal, you're made in the shade. And if you sadly miss it, there's no work lost.

Win-win. :)

* This is where you can have a lot of fun. From the basics ("$5 gets you a copy of the game when it launches" / "$50 gets you on our playtesting team") to the ludicrous ("$500 And we'll name a badass magic item after you" / "$5000 and we make you a level boss.").
