Traits

Post by Rafe03 »

I bought the game last week and I'm loving it! Definitely a breath of fresh air in the current game market and I'm currently on level 10 of the dungeon/mountain.
I also love the traits you can select at character creation. I really wish I could get more than two actually. What do you think about, maybe in an expansion or sequel, being able to select an additional trait at level 10, or maybe once every 5 levels, similar to the perks in the original fallout games. This would be more cool if there were even more traits to choose from in said expansion or sequel.

What you guys at Almost Human have done is great and I look forward to seeing more in the future!!

I agree - limiting the number of traits seems pointless. Especially when beginning - we do not know which traits will be best.

An important part of roleplaying is to live with the mistakes you made. You can find out if your traits work for you as you play, and you can finish the game even if they don't fit, and play again with better traits.
No need to remove all the challenge and immersion. After all, those are the most important aspects of the game.

I don't really find "whoops, that didn't work" in character generation immersive. YMMV.

If the traits are well balanced, which they should be, you won't be able to make any game stopping mistakes.

And as discussed in several other threads, stats in this game don't matter much.. save for Strength and offensive skills. Hope that changes though. But traits don't come even close to making or breaking anything.

Even strength doesn't matter all that much - the attack power you gain from weapons and skills hugely exceeds anything you will gain from strength. Strength is more significant for carrying capacity, especially if you have pack rat tendencies.
