I was wondering if its a viable option to have a Rogue tank in front. I'm just about ready to start my second play through the game and wanted to try something a bit different.
If you have tried this let me know how it worked out for you.
His starting stats would be,
My other question is, how hard is hard mode?

Surely more points to Dexterity for greater evasion?

if you want a rogue tank you should do everything possible to make their evasion high as possible. no matter what you do to them they will never soak damage that well, so the evasion is a must.

The effectiveness of an evasion tank varies throughout the game. My rogue has died instantly from an ogre attack or a strong spell, but he has also evaded 10 attacks in a row when my fighter tank had died enabling me to otherwise win a fight I wouldn't have with 2 fighters. Hard is hard in that if you get stuck such that one or more monsters are attacking you and there's nowhere to retreat to, you will likely die.

Max Dex in stats, also get Evasion and +2 dex trait.
Extra HP wont help much.

I had a rogue as an off tank for most of the game. One of my rogues had a 83 evasion by end game and was rarely hit but with her life draining dagger it rarely mattered.

Yep, evasion rogue works just fine as a tank!

So I went ahead with the Rogue tank, decided to pair him up with a Minotaur Fighter for my front lines. So far he is really really good. Though I went against the advice and decided to go the route of vitality maximization because I didn't want to rely on just evasion. I also gave him the best possible light armor I could find so that he would have good protection. I probably won't go for Ninja master because I'm working my way towards Piercing Strikes atm.
I'm just about to descend into level 7
Here are their stats. Jiub just hit level 9, and Arul is level 8. So far Jiub has required a lot less healing potions.
Arul, Healthy / Head hunter
Jiub, Healthy / Evasive.
*** Also, originally he was Human, changed him to Lizardman.***
