food spawning areas

hi all am new to the game but not the genre played dungen master and remembering back to that games there was allways areas you could go and visit to kill mobs that repetadly droped food like the screemer breeding room on lvl 4 and the rat room on lvl 9 (think thats the right lvls). anyways i am enjoying the game and takeing my time exploreing each lvl, am down to about lvl 4 now and am starting to get worid about wether my chars food store will last. i am hopeing there is a breeding room location that allows me to refill when i like. so i can spend hours exploreing and looking for secret areas and tresures dose anybody no of such areas

I only just got to level 5, and I'm wondering this as well. Not much left to eat in my bags.

I'll toss this in a spoiler, just because.
There is such a room (full of Snails) on Floor 6. There are probably others I'm forgetting. Basically, if the game throws you into a part of the dungeon that it's not easy to backtrack out of, they provide you with some (occasionally) respawning, food-dropping monster(s).

i am talking about the game dungeon master in that perticualr sentence of my post then moveing on to ask if there is anything like this in legend of grimrock

oh, alright. my bad. There are some areas with respawning food dropping monsters as the others said.
one on lvl 6 with snails, one with ice lizards later on (the first time you encounter them)
I never went farming for food actually, just picked up everything I could get. Towards the end, I always have more food than I can carry.

cheers for the info guys will allow me to take my time on each lvl exploreing with out haveing to wory about running out of food

the ice lizards are probably the best. the food they drop is on the heavy side (a 5 pound steak), but it also completely fills your sustenance bar, so you can afford to carry less of them.
