was a classic game
Re: Ahhh The Memories - Dungeon Master
I just hope that LOG can capture the atmosphere of Dungeon master.

It is classic, I'm playing it at the mo and loving it, just goes to show how it's good even for someone who hasn't really played it before! (I dabbled with the SNES version 20 years ago but that's it)
I have to say though, playing without a map is hard, it's making me wonder if I should go Old School in LoG or not.

Since you seem to be doing ok in DM I recommend you also try LoG without the auto map. I bet it's more rewarding that wayDarklord wrote:I have to say though, playing without a map is hard, it's making me wonder if I should go Old School in LoG or not

It's the thought of the dreaded level 8 that scares me!

Honestly Daniel, playing with auto map takes away a awful lot of the fun.
It will not take you long to become good at mapping for yourself, and then I bet you wouldn't play any other way.

Re: Ahhh The Memories - Dungeon Master
I'm backing and forthing on the auto map issue.
I've lost hundreds of hours playing the Wizardry remakes on PS3, and there was just something I loved about the idea of first having to discover fragments of the map for the dungeon, and then of course, needing someone in the party who could cast the spell to view the map. I remember thinking "If only I'd had this in Dungeon Master."
So now LOG comes along, and it's a tough choice. My days as a map maker in all the tabletop AD&D campaigns of the past make me confident I'll be able to handle it. Then the innovative idea of map fragments and auto-mapping seems like a great evolution. Still, I may disable the map for LOG first-run. Then again, I may not.

Ah I don't map, I just go off memory, which can get a bit tricky from time to time! I've just finished the 3rd level of DM, not to bad so far, I suspect it'll start getting harder though!Dandy wrote:Honestly Daniel, playing with auto map takes away a awful lot of the fun.

Whenever i see a Dungeon Master thread, I always wonder if any more data discs after Chaos strikes back were in the planning phase, and why did they stop there before DM2.
