Level 3: Gold Key Bug

Hello,

While playing on level 3, pillars of light, I encountered (what seems to be) a bug. Despite searching every nook and cranny of that level, and killing all the spiders, the game has not spawned me a gold key. I checked every walkthrough that I can find, I picked up Toorum's note on spiders, yet the gold key is nowhere to be found.

Quite a bummer. Any way I can fix it?

After exploring a bit more, it seems that the spiders which should've spawned at the secret room with the Tar Bead x2 and the alternative stairway to Lvl 4 did not spawn at all.

I know this isn't a HUGE deal, but I'm a bit of a completionist and it's really bugging me out lol.

Any help?

I know what you said about spiders, but there are some that are hidden in walls until you walk over invisible pressure plates. I would do a painstaking walk through of every square to ensure that all spiders are dead. The gold key drops from a spider.

I think I covered most of the level already, but I'll give it another go. I'll report back with the results

I had the same problem. I killed the spider that dropped the key but I didn't notice that he did this. When I went back to get it I couldn't find it. The key is very hard to spot if you are not looking at the floor carefully. Also make sure to check the squares where you destroyed the eggs because items can be difficult to spot among that particular type of "floor decoration".

I managed to completely miss the golden key spider even though I thought I'd cleared levels 3 and 4, and was on the way to level 5. Only after a thorough search I'd finally found the spider which has wandered to the area of the stairs down to Level 4 and where the golden lock was.

It was difficult to discover this, but going back to the saved locations from right after the point when I'd thought to have killed all the spiders helped revealing that, no, I have not forgotten to pick up the key, I have managed to let that spider escape.
