level 6 pit puzzle

I can't get the pit behind the central pillar to close so that I can cross to the key.
I have lightened everyones load to increase speed but the pit is always open when I get there.

You need to click the button near the entrance to close the pit in front of the pillar.
Then you need to click the button at the front of the pillar to close the pit behind the pillar.

I did it just now. And like the op I probly had 200 reloads at least
I'm so happy I'm gonna necro this thread (sry) and post a little map I just made. I had doubts the whole way thru, even with the spoilers on here and on GameBanshee. Hopefully this will help someone new to the game like I am.

I was thinking you had to take the 1st torch out for the key and the 2nd torch out to open the secret door... I wasted a lot of time on that

Your map is a bit off. The southern hole isn't covered on the first part... anybody going exactly this way will fall down.
