Cannot pass a timed puzzle on lvl 5

Post by Celesta »

I have been struggling with the pull-lever-throw stone-run for a timed door puzzle on level 5 and there seem to be no way to resolve it. It has been so bad I think I would return the game if I could. I read forum posts and watched walkthrough videos, but it does not help. I am hitting the grate whenever trying to reach the open door, and when I try to get through the door it pushes me off even when it looks still open, and then closes. It has been truly ridiculous and unreasonably time consuming to try to get through. People in the forums mentioned turning the timer off in the options but I cannot find such option. Maybe the puzzle is designed with some specific joystick or keyboard in mind, I don't know. I am playing on a desktop. If I try to keep the movement keys pressed, it constantly overshoots and gets me too far. Anyway, I keep hitting the grate, it stops me, and when I finally get through, the door slams at my face.
It would be a total shame to have to abandon the game at that. Why is this puzzle so ridiculously bad?

Try tapping the buttons rather than keeping the button pressed. Also, be sure to move your mouse from the switch to the attack button as you move, so it's already in place when you're in position to throw it. (Or perhaps place a rock in your cursor, so you can just click to throw it.)

I have the same problem using the lowest resolution and other graphics options. So I don't know what should I do - I cannot decrease game level? For the designers: I think that it's not good way to bind time of the heroes moving to speed of videocard.

(later) I have passed the pazzle when I removed the torch near the door, fps are increased. But I still repeat my commet about videocard.

Buy decent hardware if you want to play games. Integrated Intel chips (or the like) isn't really for gaming.

I was running this game on intel integrated so that has nothing to do with that puzzle. The only puzzle it affected lv 7 iron door. I upgraded to a vid card only because I had a friend who upgraded and gave me his. I beat all except that ONE puzzle on intel integrated just didn't look great.

Not only Intel integrated cards don't look great, they are responsible for 90% of the whining and complains by "low-end" gamers. I'm not bashing anyone for buying these, but a fact is a fact.

I'm an indie developer myself and there will be a stern warning coming with Disenthral that integrated Intel (or pretty much anything integrated) video chips/card/whatever will be suboptimal and will be unsupported unless I have time to help, which is doubtful.

Anyone serious about gaming should use a dedicated video card, nothing less. Anything else is asking for trouble, low FPS, general dissatisfaction and refund request. The worst thing is that those people blame the developer when in reality, it's their own fault for not following the System Requirements...

Anyway, I digress.

Game is fine, Just onboard video (crap) excuse my languge sucks in like all games. Most onboards has even probs playing a movie on true hd 1080, so yea.. Buy a nice 256 bit rambus video card with at least dd3 ram (ddr2 is fine to, as long its a 256 bus card)

If you plan to buy a video, look first at the BUS bit. most new cards are low end ( 64 bit memory ) dont let it fool u. U want at least a 128 bit, but prefer go with a 256 bit at least. you willl have no video lags in like most games.

I have to agree with the original poster on this one. This timed puzzle seems impossible. The door is closing before the grate goes all the way up.
I have dropped my settings to the lowest res and removed that torch. I still cannot get thru that door. very frustrating indeed.
And BTW... I should not have to reduce my vid settings, I am running a Nvidia 560Ti overclocked not some integrated graphics POS.
I even went as far as programming my G19 to go thru the motions to no avail.

how do we get past this puzzle??????
