I have just finished the game, and is a but struck with awe. I have dragged it out, playing just a half an hour now and then, digesting the experience to make it last as long as possible. I do not regret it!
I played old school and it sure brought me back to the old days of playing Dungeon Master to the late hours. You nailed it all:
- Puzzles that had me stumped just close enough for frustration, and then great satisfaction.
- Skill based combat with a varied ensemble of enemies.
- Loot dished out in a slow pace, making them sought for and felt as great rewards.
- The title music deserved one extra mentioning
