Walls in the middle of the room

Post by zack »

Hi everyone, and thanks for the Dungeon Editor.

I'm trying to make my very first dungeon, called Darkhold castle.
I'm facing a problem everytime I want to make big rooms with doors and walls in common with different rooms.
This is the map that I'm doing right now:

Maybe am I using the wrong asset? The only thing that I can do to draw the walls is to use the dungeon_wall_grating, as you can see in the above image, which is not what I supposed to do. I can't place a dungeon_wall either.
You can't even put walls on the middle of the room, which should be very useful.
Am i wrong or is a limitation of this editor?

Sorry If the question seems obvious for you guys, but I just started using this editor.
Thanks a lot.
Regards
Zack

You can use secret doors for that. But in general we don't build with skinny walls like that.

what Komag said. Secret doors works fine for that, just don't forget to add "pillars" between them.

They don't work totally fine though, as monsters detect you through them and hang around near the doors. Might not matter here, but it's possibly something that makes thing weird

I have a 7x10 cell room with secret doors as the interior maze walls, and a room before that one with pressure plates that rearrange the the maze layout depending on what plate(s) is pushed... Some plates are connected to timers, to revert the changes after a while.

Monsters don't see through closed secret doors.

Is the secret door different code than conventional doors? Could a secret door asset be user created ~as per my earlier question; (and involve custom animation)?

** I'm guessing it's tied into the monster AI's use of conventional doors.

The only difference between a secret door and a door is that the secret door is not visible on the auto map. See Doors in Asset Definition Reference for more details on doors.
