Random total freezes of my computer while playing...

Post by N3oW4r »

Hi everyone!

I just bought this awesome game, and played a bit, but I'm encoutering a real issue: my computer freezes randomly while playing. The first time it happened after a 1h session of playing, had to hard reboot my computer. The second time after 20s of playing, the third time after 20 minutes...

Each time I have to hard reboot.

I have upgraded my drivers this morning, so this isn't the problem imo.

My specs:

Windows 7 Pro SP1
Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2933MHz
4GO DDR2
ATI Radeon HD 5830

Can someone help me please? I really like this game, and this is a real pain in the ***, can't play without knowing if I'm gonna loose my progression at any time...

Thanks!

Hard reboot sounds like a hardware issue. Is your video card or CPU overheating? Have you vacuum cleaned your PC lately?

Do you have vertical sync enabled in options? Enabling it may help if your hardware is overheating due to insufficient cooling.

After some tests, it seems that desactivating V-sync did the trick! (I read that V-sync activated was pretty friendly, like you said, but apparently not!)
Spent two 1 hours sessions this evening, no crash.

My computer is clean, and I play a lot of other games more demanding about the specs, so I don't think its an hardware issue.

If the problem really was V-sync, i'll come close the topic in the next days.

Thanks guys.

I never heard about vsync freezing a system. What you described sounds very similar to the TDR-Bug found with some nVidia cards/driver combos. Prolly an update of your Catalyst driver and/or a driver config check will help.
