Altering the map

Anyone had any luck altering the map? Can we change the names from "first floor" "second floor"?
I want to also reveal 2 floors at a time on the map but not let the player change the map pages. My thinking is via a teleporter I can teleport the player through time, either ahead or back to present the dungeon in different states, but have their discovered areas stay 'discovered' even though they're not on the same floor anymore.
