Fanboy rant to the community

Neikun, the Isguardian is so awesome. To see you get an itch and decide you ARE going to figure this out (modeling and texturing and such) and have become this good at it in what, a month?! is truly inspiring to the rest of us. And you consistently generate content, ALWAYS working on something, creating things that are going to live on in this mod community for years. I know I'm getting a bit too deep for no reason, bear with me. But as with many of the people around here, the genre has lived in infamy since Dungeon Master. Most of us have gotten every single entry in the 1st person dungeon crawler genre that has ever been released, Lands of Lore, Stonekeep, Ishar, etc. . . .and you guys are the pioneers of what Almost Human has provided with this editor and assets.Things like Grimwolds scripts, Wordsworths Tools, Daniv's tilesets, Crismans work with gems, Neikuns seemingly infinite library of custom assets and such, are setting the foundation for the future of the entire genre. Komag assembling the knowledge in a comprehensive way that will benefit even future modders, that begin to do things we cannot yet comprehend. Anyway I am obviously proud to be around you guys, and knowing that the driving force is simply passion without reimbursement is humbling.
Too much?? Bah, it needed to be said!

Aww. There's a tear in my eye.
I..I don't know what to say. My whole face is warm.
I would just like to say that anyone can get to my level of skill if they are as enthusiastic as I have been. I have next to zero experience in anything related to the fields I have been modding. The best thing you can do to learn, is to mod by addition/subtract/extrapolation.
This is where you take something that exists and you add or remove pieces of it. Or you alter parts of it to be more specific.
I started with alcoves, essentially. That was an example of extrapolation, where I would change the position an item would rest inside of it.
The more different things you learn how to change, the more you will understand things as a whole and will be ready to create things entirely new.
The biggest breakthrough in texturing for me was learning how to change textures on models using the GMT. Since I started with slimes (easiest) I saw how unlimited the potential for texturing could be.
I do want to get to the point of doing more than just re-skinning things. Luckily, our community is so diverse and so talented, I know that when I stumble, they'll be right there to guide me right.

I was just thinking how great this community was, then I saw this thread. I made a request of a monster thinking someone might get around to one someday, and within a few hours Neikun had come up with a really cool one and people were adding related scripts. Wow, what a huge difference from most game communities where no one wants to share.
It also gives me hope that even though I know nothing of graphical work and am just learning scripting, I can learn with the help here and accomplish these wild ideas I have.
Big thanks to the supportive people here.

+1 Too.
Thanks to all these "creators" that use their "genuine" to create new contents that make the Universe of GrimRock grow and grow every day....

I think the flavor and quality of the game leads to the caliber of the folks around here, unlike, say, something more broad based and consoled down

+ 1 for the Best Community Ever.
I started from nothing (only had just a bunch of notions of C language), like almost everyone else, but thanks to all of you I've learned scripting pretty well! And we are helping each others, improving ourselves, and helping the others to improve themselves!
But I started too with the Alcoves, Neikun gave me the inspiration!
I've been playing on PC for years (Since I was 6, I started with the Amiga - ah nostalgia!) and one of the greatest thing in pc gaming world are the mods.
Since now, I usually tried a few mods for other games (think of elder scrolls games, fallout or doom - and I'm still playing a few mods for doom 2 even in these days).
For the first time I find myself from the other side of the mod community. I'm not a consumer but a creator. Watching this game growing with absolutely cool stuff every day is AMAZING.
We all are indeed creating a new whole game! Let's keep up this wonderful work!!
