I have opened this topic to say that I have finally completed my shieldless modded skeleton the baneguard. Quite a number of you have probably seen my threads related to making it as well as a few questions on other threads.
Here are pictures, it is not translucent (at least yet) as the texture did not look very good:
So far, this is my crowning work.Involving textures, particles, models, and animations. Unfortunately I do not want to release it until my dungeon is out, at which time I will offer it seperatly. However after so much work I would like to thank all the people who helped make this possible. For direct help: Neikun, JohnWordsworth, Xanathar, and Komag. For materials: Wolfrug(although he is quick to remind one that he did not make fog). And thanks to akroma222 for actually both liking my stuff and most of all making it so I am not right now trying to figure out the great mysteries called icons. And Kuningas for making a skele-butler(skutler?).

One alternative to using translucent blendMode is to set lighting=false,
This is how the frozen texture is handled.
As for icons, to make sure I don't screw anything up, I use the default atlas and replace icons as I see fit.
Important Tip If you're using GIMP, save your atlas with compressing DX1 rather than DX5. You'll get much less white levels.
One way to make him look partially incorporeal is to make pieces of him transparent or slightly transparent in the texture and set alpha test to true.

The pictures are a bit dark, but from what I see it looks cool. As for transparency, pretty much what Neikun said -- and since it is so dark, setting lighting to false should not be too much of a problem (on more colorful models it looks bad when they can be seen from a great distance, black could blend into the darkness better)

While I never intended it to be that dark(especially picture 3) I decided it wasn't that bad. Now it's kind of a mysterious horrer that you know is coming at you from the black mist.
