[Help] Warning: invalid spawn location

Post by Brodie301 »

Was adding Neikun's, Isguardian, to my 2 level dungeon and i get warning msg in the editor:

Warning:isguardian has invalid spawn location 6,23,3,2
Don't quite understand as i haven't added a level 3 ever. But the Isguardians that i added are in level 2 and work.

In the spawn location, the first number 6 is the current dungeon floor. The 23,3 is the x and y coordinates of the floor. The 2 is a "facing" value. 0 is north, 1 is east, 2 is south, and 3 is west. Make sure you are not spawning him to a wrong floor of your dungeon. If your dungeon only has two floors, then the 6 is the problem.

That's the thing I just placed it on level 2 by clicking in the editor I didn't script it to spawn at 6. But I'll add 3-6 to see if its there.

If you placed the entity into your level using the editor, then that should have worked. Do you have any other items in the location that you placed him? Like an altar, or statue, or something like that?

Also, make sure that the guy you placed is the same entity to which the error pertains.

Not sure what's wrong. Have you tried deleting the thing and replacing him?

Does this stop the preview from playing, or is it just a console warning?

I've only ever gotten this warning when I placed something without a floor under it.

@Neikun it definitely was a weird one. I deleted him and whole room I was working on & warning still there. Added levels 3-6 to see if he was there and wasn't. Closed editor without saving reopened and MSG not there added a 3x3 room and added a single isguardian and gave same msg. Closed dungeon again went to bed, loaded dungeon again and no MSG when adding. Like I said weird.

It was probably the remnants of one incorrectly placed one that you moved before previewing.

I got this error when building a monster closet and forgetting to make a square for him.

It seems to be a editor glitch. I've got this warning several times as well when placing custom monsters on clearly valid locations, though nothing appears to be wrong. After using the Clr, I never see it again, and never have a problem.

Also the last number is the level number, so that part made sense.

Yeah, I've noticed that it sometimes reports false positives when things are moved around or something and the level is refreshed. You can check out the coordinates from the warning and see for yourself if the creature has been successfully spawned to see if the report is false.
