I've run the hardware test successfully on WinXP SP 2. You should run the hardware test as well to be sure, but I don't see anything about the OS that should stop you.

Hmm... A few year ago, I was able to play SP3 games on SP2 so I can't say for sure - but I wouldn't recommend still using SP2 at this moment. I know, it will not answer your question, but it would be more safe for you and will save you troubles in future to just install SP3.

It should work in theory. Most system requirements assume you have a fully updated OS, but if what you have works then no big deal.
