English and Lore

I'm not a native English speaker, plus I'm working on a plot-heavy (by Grimrock standards, not by Planescape Torment standards

) dungeon mod.
So doubt #1 (about English language):
say I have a set of bones or tunnels dug by humans - I call them human bones, human tunnels. Dwarves -> dwarven bones, dwarven tunnels. Elves -> elven bones, elven tunnels. What would you use for minotaurs, insectoids and Lizardman ?
Doubt #2 (about Lore):
Are there any set of canon/lore references for Grimrock apart objects in the main game and our beloved list of modding gods ? I think we miss some basic informations like what races do exist (apart from the canon 4) ? Do elves exist in the Grimrock world (of which we have two fantastic Daniv wallsets ) ?
Just for fun - I checked the Nex references I remember from the main game. Nex likely is a goddess, but might be a god. Could also be simply a country or a town (references: sword of Nex, toorum note #12) or a multinational corporation specialized in drive-through temples where you could buy sharp swords.

I think minotaur bones, insectoid bones, lizardman bones are all right.
After all with animals we would say, lizard bones, cow bones, insect err..bones?
As for dwarven bones and elven bones, those appear to be incorrect. It sounds too much like you are saying "bones of dwarven make" or "elven style bones"
It would simply be dwarf bones/elf bones.
I'mma check my extras folder for more info on the other stuff.

There is the "Northern Realms" world map to work with. The Isle of Nex can be seen at the bottom.

I think this is the beginning of a very rewarding conversation. As Xanathar says (GREAT ending with the drive thru temple also, look forward to seeing some humor in your plot!) When your mod is primarily plot/story driven, and you are creating lore on the fly, you find yourself grasping at straws, making it up on as you go. It can be problematic once you get your main idea fleshed out, and the background across to the player (Probably takes a couple of floors). You find yourself needing to be more specific, so that you can elaborate and continue making traps/puzzles that resonate with the player and make sense in the context you've placed them in. I, for one, started to worry that I was having to make up a lore/history that could actually contradict Petri and the Almost Human guys idea of the lore and history. That, in itself, would hold me back creatively. Like, "Maybe I shouldn't delve too deep into that part until I have a better idea of what im talking about". Anyway, this is a problem I am having also. And to give you guys a better idea of how hard it gets: I'm trying to flesh out the story in my second mod. I finished Hotel Hades and was able to avoid reference to the outside world enough to keep it ambiguous. However, with the second story (Prequel to the first) I'm trying to connect the two , and have nothing to draw on to make a common plot thread between them. I hesitate to infer a made up reality outside of the walls of my dungeons; out of fear that I could ruin the validity of my story by contradicting the game world unknowingly. (Reading this after writing it, it is very convoluted and may not make much sense to you guys reading it. Hoping I'm getting the basic idea of my problem across). Anyway, the only solution I've come up with is the common lore creators we devised. So far my 4 floors are named:
Tomb of Asteroth , Temple of Daniv, Library of Phitt, and Xanathars Vault. It's completely independent from the first story wise, and I'm just not satisfied with the lack of tie in/commonality. I find myself trying to be vague, while making a specific, compelling world. And my head hurts.

Try reading some of the fan fics I compiled in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2981
Some of them explore the lore of the world, largely based on the map. The
* ones are of particular note

Wow Komag, so much to read!
I'll try reading that fanfictions, at the very least to be compatible with them and not to say things which may alter the history of the world

; if I can I'll try to get out some checklist out of them (list of known kingdoms, list of known races, etc) in this thread for further discussion, etc.
@Brodie301: cool

I spent so much time fighting ratmen in Ultima Online I can't see them as a friendly race anymore!
@Neikun: thanks for the English tips
@Batty: wow, so in the end Nex isn't a goddess! Do you have a link to a hi-res map ? I tried to find it, but I only found an unreadable low-res version.
@msyblade: of course there is humor - after all it's the one dungeon with loos

And thanks for the name of one of your floors!

I always imagine Nex Isle as similar to ancient Greece (both in climate and lifestyle). Somehow, after reading flavour text on Sword of Nex and Toorum note, I've always seen it as matriarch society with theocracy government.

1) Neikun is right. But you can also say tauric bones, it is less specific but still correct.
2) Insect don't have bones, but insectoids could. I, however, would not do that.
