HELP! Wont start

I bought this game today in the humble bundle and i have downloaded and installed it both on steam and through a direct download(at different times), but i could not get it to start. I've tried re-installing and manually installing directx since I saw that was common issue but have had no results. I have quite an old laptop running windows 7.

i have messed with more of the files i installed the c++ files and it started working. (i had done this with the direct download and it did not help)
