XP - always crashes on loading - even after re-install

Post by mulch »

Hey all.. Happy festivities...

Love this game... was experimenting with designing a dungeon... extremely excited about this... however...
After it crashed one time, it has never re-loaded even after re-installing.

SYMPTOMS ON MY XP LAPTOP:
Upon double clicking Grimlock Icon, screen goes black and following error comes on screen:
grimrock.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

....in same window it asks if i want to inform Microsoft.... hmmm... as if that would help!!!

anyway... any clues??

many thanks... mulch...

we need more info, HW-setup etc...

Most likely damaged configuration file...delete the grinrock.cfg (but make a backup before) it will be autogenerated.
Also, what kind of graphiccard? If it is a problematic onboard graphic card you could try set the quality to lowest directly in the grimrock.cfg before starting LoG, hopefully increase the chance for starting. Also, have you updated drivers, directX etc.? I think Grimrock creates a log file on start in his directory, something written inside?
