good idea but using gimp is a pain , i tried to install add on for photoshop but seems to not work with photoshop 5 on windows64

OK.. I agree GIMP is a new thing for me - and what I did was use a virtual machine (VMWARE) to reinstall my Photoshop (CS2) and the GMT and GIMP and Blender (though I don't know how to use it yet)

Of course! Recolor the rock and it is ice, fantastic!
The only thing I might change is giving the armor more contrast over the body, but even that is a complete matter of taste.
It also could be interesting to try the healing crystal material on the rock part (if it is separate, I've not worked with the monster), to give it that similar shine, but it is completely fine as it is, too.
