[WINDOWS] Old Save was Auto Saved on another dungeon

Post by VISIBLExNINJA »

I wanted to try out my friends dungeon, i didn't import my characters and after i finished the dungeon i wanted to play my story just to find out that the characters were not mine but the premade ones. I also deleted the save afterwards being extremely mad. Any help at trying to get my save back would be great, thanks.

If your save was overwritten then I don't think you can do anything unless you have some sort of backup system. Always make a copy of your saves before messing around manually with them or make sure you understand the system correctly. I believe saving on a crystal will always use the file "autosave.sav". Manual saving goes to whichever file you select, be it autosav.sav or savegame01.sav, savegame02.sav...

You need to understand that LoG provides three different kinds to saving a game:
1) the autosave slot: this slot is used whenever you start a new game, a custom dungeon or touch a crystal.
2) the quicksave slot: this slot is used when you hit F5
3) the regular savegame slots: the game allowes you to create 100 individually named save games.

As already said by starting any new game or custom dungeon the autosave slot is overwritten which happend when you started your friend's dungeon. During playing it you very likely also hit F5 too so also any quicksave you made before starting your friend's dungeon is gone. So as long as you did not create a specifically named save game or (as FlashSoul mentioned) you got some kind of extra file backup system your own progress is permanently lost.

While playing any dungeon it's a good thing to create named savegames at key points i.e. locating the stairs to the next floor to prevent losing too much progress.
