there is also the age old trick of making a transparent .dds texture, using GMT to make a new model out of that same mesh, just referring to the new texture and saving, and re-defineing a new rock obj with the same or different parameters.

As for making it non-pick-upable, not sure but it appears to definitely be doable. Something about mouseclick = nil
