Spell casting?

First of all I really LOVE the game, reminds me of my early 90ies Favs (EOB1, EOB2, LOL).
What I don't understand is how to cast a spell correctly. Do I really have to klick the proper rune(s) and then on the icon to the right every time I want to cast a spell? This semms to be not very user-friendly.
Maybe someone can tell me how to do it the right way. Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's implemented that way on purpose.

Don't worry you will get used to it over time.

Ah, OK. Maybe in a coming sequel they'll change that. In EOB you had a list of spells to memorize and had them ready to cast after sleeping.
Does anyone remember the sound of the spiders in Level 5 of EOB. Creepy. And the footsteps in the first levels.
I think the Grimrock-Makers were right, not to implement music (Im in a Dungeon Crawler not in an elevator).

I think there's more than one way to be "right." The ambient soundtrack in the dungeons of Grimrock are very atmospheric, and playing music would detract from that. On the other hand, the music is one of the more fond memories a lot of people have from Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos.

EoB uses the AD&D system (sleep to memorize a spell, then cast it), while Grimrock is mainly influenced by Dungeon Master (which is what EoB is based on, that's why there are still a lot of similarities of course). But in DM you had the rune system for casting spells.
