Favorite Table Top Sci-Fi RPG?

Post by Neikun »

My friends and I are about to start up an Alternity game set in the Mass Effect world and I got wondering,
What are everyone's favorite Sci-fi table top games?

Sadly never played a sci-fi one. Though briefly had sci-fi encounters. It was not one of my stories. in faerun's future where vampires are fighting
for social acceptability. She(yes you read correctly) is a weird DM. Not for the story, for putting it in faerun.

I've heard of shadowrun, I think that's the name, would not mind trying it. More relevant to the topic though, is that I actually own an old Robotech tabletop rpg book. I saw the whole 80's cartoon because my younger brother watched it(on dvd I'm not that old  ). Have not played it yet though.

If table top includes board games (not just "traditional" RPGs) then Eclipse is hands down the best sci-fi board game I've ever played.

Wow! That game looks intense!
84 plastic miniatures
over 300 wooden parts
over 300 tiles
7 boards
18 dice
2 cloth bags

Space Stratego-Monopoly-Warhammer-Settlers of Catan?

I've never seen it around though. Maybe I oughta keep an eye open for it next time I'm in a hobby shop.

Yes, and even better than the components are the game mechanics :)

Highly recommended.

Sure enough I'm going on a road trip either tomorrow or the next day to some geek stores in a city two hours away from me. I'm gonna jot the name of this one down in my phone.

Thanks for the recommendation, Petri!

It's not really a table top game either but, if you are looking for a good laugh with a few friend then Star Munchkin. Simple rules, quick set-up and the ability to actually cheat as part of the rules...

As for a real table top game, the Star Wars RPG was pretty good a few years back, if you like the universe.
I did not try the new rules since the licence was bought by WotC, so I don't know if it's still good or not.

I can only recommend Arkham Horror, I know it is set in 1920' but with it mystical setting along with technologies from other worlds, I think it belongs here :)
