Finished game - Confused

Post by ByF »

I'm really disappointed with this game. I've played this games like Eye of the Beholder and such in the old days with great satisfaction and always wanted to play through them again afterwards to find the perfect build and such. But not with this game. At first I got really exited when I saw there was a new game made in the old school style of this kinda games, and there's nothing wrong with the package of the game. But some things really bug me.

1) Worst of all: Silly little XP given throughout game.
My party ended up at level 13 with no max level mastery in any area. I read on forums that gaining a couple of levels more can be done if farming alot, but that still isn't close to the end game team I'd hope for. A couple of masterys I think each toon should have in end of game (Lev 50).

2) Game to short: Seems not only as the team didn't develop far enough, the journey ended far to early. To add alot of side-quests or something that made game content at least twice as big would solve both this problem and the one above.

3) I miss the Priest/Healer role, and perhaps a couple more should be made.

4) I don't really mind the magic system, in one way it's brilliant - but you really should be able to make some fast access spells and not have to make the code for each one every time. That bugs me and made my mage far less used than he should been.

4b) EDIT: I wouldn't mind having a button to do the attacks with either instead of having to right-click each charachter btw, I dunno how really, but I bet it could be worked out :)

5) Overall the carry capacity is silly low imo.

6) EDIT: Forgot, also I think it was far to little weapons and armor and such in game to find and choose from, overallt the game need more content in many areas hence.

Are there some expansion coming that adds up to this one and make you able to level the party far beyond what it is in this game it would be fine, but now I regret I payed for this product. Also would hope for more roles and improvement of magic system then of course.

There are several threads with this exact same topic. I don't really mind, but there are a few currently active.
People may overload giving the same responses.

I looked at first page of forums for such first, but didn't see any. But, if it's like you say that shows that there are some real problems in this areas then :)

Anyone know if an add-on(s) to this game is planned?

Well in my opinion it isn't 'problems' But everyone has there own feelings.
Thee spells are extremely controversial. But of course it is like dungeon master. Most people (obviosly on the forums, but it has won awards, the thread on that fact is visible, and enjoyed praise.) enjoy the game. But alot of people feel the manual, for spells, input is troublesome and dated.

Many of your other points are often pointed out too, xp is the one that most comes to mind. I enjoyed the game and did not mind these facts, as I think did most players, I just don't mind people voicing their own opinions. I understand your complaints. You will find mods to add content. LordGarths should supply something long enough to reach max skill level on. For spells, I know there is something to sink runes to keys. You may prefer that to mouse.

Edit: Oh yeah, to explain some of what I mean. You will find this is a very nice forum. But there are hotheads even here who quickly zero in on people who don't like this style of game.
And the similiar forums I was refering to were:viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4782(A more positive forum of analysis).viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2506(voices similiar issues)viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4900(similiar topic, much more negative/terrible spelling)
I am the God of darkness and corruption.

I would also have liked my characters to be higher level by the end, but I don't think you gain XP too slowly. It's rather a "problem" with the length of the game itself. But given how cheap the game is I certainly don't feel "cheated" in any way on the game's length. It's just as much a credit to the game that I wished it had lasted longer, since it's a lot of fun. In fact more fun than nearly all other games I've played in recent years.

For a couple of masteries each char needs to reach about level 25 which requires around 4.4 mil xp.
That's a veeeery long road to go.

The dungeon size is about the same as the original Dungeon Master or Eye of the Beholder dungeons. If anyone want's more there is the steam workshop, nexus and the editor to make some.

There is always room for an add-on, expansion and LoG 2.

It's the same system as in Dungeon Master, beside the interface representation.
Suggestions to improve the casting system has been made here.

Check out the "Tablet Mode" menu option.
ByF wrote:5) Overall the carry capacity is silly low imo.
If you want to carry more make stronger characters ;)
ByF wrote:6) EDIT: Forgot, also I think it was far to little weapons and armor and such in game to find and choose from, overallt the game need more content in many areas hence.
I thinks it's just right for there are 3 to 5 different weapons and armors per class.
Anyway there is always room for add-ons as you can see by looking at the modding forum.

There are already custom dungeons out there to improve your party. The largest dungeon to date is LordGarth's. Some custom dungeons also grant large chunks of xp for solving puzzles and surviving combats like "Warrior's Challenge". Feel free to check them out.
