Space Hulk originally is a Games Workshop board game set in the Warhammer 40k universe. Small groups of Space Marine Terminator squads undertake missions on Genestealer-infested floating hulks of derelict space ships in short gameplay sessions of simple and easy to learn rules. Succeeding however is less simple.
The video game supposedly is going to be quite a faithful adaptation of the board game and will feature two-person multiplayer like the board game, single player vs AI and cooperative mode in special maps where players each get a squad to control. The game should also be shipping with a level editor so players can create their own missions.
It'll be available for PC, Mac and IOS I believe.

I've got the new-ish edition of the board game and it's a lot of fun. It's got a very intense atmosphere for a board game and the combat is crazy ruthless (especially so for the space marine player). I'm sure this will be good.

Ooh! I should check it out. I'm something of a Warhammer 40,000 fan.
(not too much though or I would have already known of this.)

I played the Playstation "Space Hulk" 10 years ago and loved it
the Ixnat video looks highly polished and the commentators mentioned "Enemy Unknown" which I am also a huge fan of (hence "Hallucinoid")
quality looks great on that vid!!

As I recall the old Space Hulk video game adaptation was real-time and viewed in first person through the terminators' cameras, and you could not play as the Genestealers. As far as I can tell the new game is a 1:1 conversion of the board game. With single player and coop modes being possible in addition to that.

Mmm, Kinda wish hey kept a realtime mode in in addition to the normal.

Just catching up on the General Discussion boards. I remember playing Space Hulk right back in the day - and it was awesome. I never really got into the money-grabbing "you need hundreds of pounds to collect an army" 40K, but I loved the skirmish games and the board/tile based games like this and Blood Bowl.
I remember playing the dungeon crawler-esque Amiga/PSOne/Atari Jaguar version of Space Hulk. It too was awesome. It was great fun when you got the Thunder Hammer and you had to contend with your bolter jamming and the incredibly fast Genestealers.
This game is going to rock. The iPad needs some more real games (Grimrock would be amazing on the iPad / Windows tablets - with just a tad more thought to the layout of Tablet mode!)

Seems they're adding the cooperative multiplayer feature and level editor as a free DLC later to get the game out quicker. It's on Steam for preorder and should be available in a few weeks. It looks quite good from the newest footage I could find on YouTube.

Already put 20+ hours into the game and can safely say I enjoy it a lot. Best game this year for me. It's getting mediocre reviews, though. It was fairly buggy when it was released but they've been quick with patching it up, and I thoroughly enjoyed it regardless.
It does feel like an indie game and doesn't have the polish and quality of Grimrock, if one were to compare. But I love moving those slow Terminators about and laying waste to endless hordes of Genestealers. It's very tense when you turn on the space marine timer.
