So the grimrock trait system reminded me of a few other games I've played though it was less extensive. In this other game there were both positive and negative traits where positive traits decreased the rate of experience gain and negative traits increased experience rate gain. I would love to see something simmilar for grimrock 2. For example, there were traits that made a character particularly frail or others that made them slower. The steeper the penalty, the higher the exp bonus was. It was an interesting challenge of seeing well what penalties can I deal with? Can I balance out the exp penalty of this positive trait with the penalty of this negative trait? What does everyone think about that?

Great idea to add extra challenge and replayability. They already have drawbacks on some items and it works well to keep it balanced.
