Beyond Grimrock

So now that you've settled on a design for Grimrock 2 (even if you haven't told us what it is yet :(), maybe we can now wildly speculate about what may come after.

Personally, what I've been craving for a long time is a modern take on the classics of turn-based wRPGs: Wizardry, Ultima, Might and Magic, Bard's Tale, the Gold Box series, Realms of Arkania triology (for the 2 english speaking ppl who know those games :P).

If the defining element of Grimrock was "tile-based", then the critical element here is "turn-based" - a mode of play that has fallen almost completely out of favor in western style RPGs, which is a shame imo. Note that the two aren't mutally exclusive of course.

Opinions?

AH has already decided for LoG 2 to stay tile-based and real-time. The dev-blog tells it all.

They're probably going to make yet another MMO action-"RPG". *coolface* ;)

Not all old grid-based FP RPGs were turn-based, in fact quite a few of them were in real time like Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, Lands of Lore and Anvil of Dawn. Grimrock is a modern take on the Dungeon Master concept, not Wizardry. There are actually many Wizardry-like modern games coming up or available right now: Might&Magic X, Grimoire, Class of Heroes series, Etrian Odyssey series and others.

I specifically said in the very first sentence that I want talk about what comes after the Grimrock series (however many parts that turns out to be).

Nope, you said what comes after Grimrock 2. That can be interpreted as Grimrock 3. Especially since you posted this in the Grimrock forum. Non-Grimrock discussion belongs to the off-topic forum.

re: Grimrock 2/3/whatever, take a look at the thread title. I really don't know how to make it any clearer.

As for which forum this belongs in, I really don't understand what you're saying. this forum is called "General Game Discussion", seems like the perfect place for this.

"Beyond Grimrock"? Grimrock is the name of the first game in the series.

Look at the board index. This board is under the Grimrock group:

Board index ‹ Legend of Grimrock ‹ General Game Discussion

The description is: "Talk about anything Legend of Grimrock related here."

Okay, now that the question has been clarified,
What does everyone thing Almost Human will do after the Grimrock Franchise?
