Forcing movement

Does anyone know of a way to force the party or monsters to move, in a way that feels smooth, rather than sudden teleportation?

No.
There is no way in LoG1 to fake/force a movement key-press; (afaik). In theory (I've never done it), it might be possible to hit a party from behind with a monster's charge attack (at no damage); presumably with an invisible monster that disappears as soon as it strikes.
Hopefully this is remedied in LoG2.

Wait a second .. Komag did something like this in a secret room on level 11 of Master Quest.
Could be that it was a serious of teleports but it was pretty impressive.

I see, its a shame.
For monsters I was thinking about doing silly things with fx to fake it... guess I'll just continue to mess around, thanks. ; P

I've done that in test dungeons before.. It does work passably well. I had a one way hallway the sped you along to the end and closed the door.

Yeah, it's simply fast teleportation, roughly 10fps, fast enough to approximate smooth motion. One other way I know of to fake somewhat smooth motion is to make a HUGE model that represents a section of dungeon, and have IT move around or by the stationary player (That's how I did the dream sequences, one giant dream gears model, teleporting 20fps in a slow spiral)

This is how my ladders work in ORRR2. That provides the smoothest movement of all.
**Come to think of it: Diarmuid also did that with his elevator concept mod.

I have a rudimentary way to give monsters pathfinding using pressure plates and blockers. It is difficult to explain, but the towntile source on the nexus uses it. (The Ogre innkeeper, upstairs, guides you to your room.)

check it out, if you like.
