Paper Sorcerer

Anyone playing this game?

At only 4.99 on steam (At least when I bought it) it's certainly an affordable offering.

So far I've enjoyed it. First person perspective, non-tile based, and the encounters in the main dungeon are not random (you can see an enemy group before you fight it). However the combat is turn based.

The biggest downside is the menus. When you scroll down and click on an item, the game 'selects' it, it then resets to the top of the menu (such as your inventory screen) and you have to scroll all the way down again and reclick the item to 'confirm'. Why the f*ck would you set it up that way?!

Still the game is a fun offering. Things may get too easy near the end if you're not playing 1980s difficulty setting. But everyone here probably is anyway.

Interesting looking, but I won't have time to try it out right now. Although it does give me some ideas.

I've once watched a let's play after the promo video got me interested. The background story is interesting and also explains the visuals. Combat is turn-based and the setup reminded me a lot of the old Wizardry series, especialy Wizardry 4. The party is made up of your main character who can summon evil minions for assistance. Up to 3 minion can be active at any time but you can summon more in total and switch them between combat. The dungeon crawl experience looks nice in the beginning, yet there is not much exploration to be done since the floors are rather small. Puzzles are few and most are located early on too. After about halfway thru it's pretty much just walking from combat to combat which IMO is kinda dull, it could have been made a lot more interesting then.

I am playing it and I love it! The range of stuff you can do is quite limited - I understand the whole game was made by one man - but it's really good fun, especially for the price. I also like the humor, even if it won't make me laugh out loud it does give me a chuckle every so often.

I got it as part of a Humble Bundle (I think?) a while back. I think I put 5 or 6 hours into it, and got stuck on progression somewhere. It was definitely very interesting and very novel. Well worth purchase price, I just haven't gotten back to it - and Grimrock 2 is the latest reason. :D

I have started playing it. It's entertaining and I am loving the minimalistic style. Descriptions are cool too. But I have the feeling it can become repetititve quite early.
