Maybe I should've downloaded the demo...?

Post by UltraKev9 »

I passed on the tech demo when it was available for a short time and nearly crapped my pants thinking I didn't have a system capable of running LoG!

I thought there would be no way I couldn't run the game (I had it in my head it was just Eye of the Beholder all over again =P) and the tech demo would just spoil what was shaping up to be a pretty sweet looking game.

Fortunately, today all my fears are subsiding and I am playing the game and it looks terrific. I'm not a huge "graphics" guy as I used to play all the Wizardry, Eye of the Beholder and Might and Magic games and great gameplay trumped great graphics any day.

In case anyone is wondering, I was certain I might have issues when looking at the system specs and I thought some upgrades were in order. Keep in mind I'm running the game at the 1280 x 900 (I think) resolution so it doesn't look like HD but everything is fluid and wonderful. On the super high res the cursor starts lagging so I'll keep my lower resolution. I've also turned down some of the graphics setting like shadows and such. Doesn't detract from my experience at all.

Here are my specs for a "several year older" machine that is running the game quite nicely:
Windows Vista SP2
AMD Phenom 9550 Quad-Core 2.2 Ghz
4GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 3200 (integrated)

This isn't a "terrible" system but it isn't any powerhouse by any stretch of the imagination. Hope this information helps some people make a purchase dicision! Keep up the great work. I am LOVING LoG!

I figured out that for best and flickering, stuttering or blinking free playing all the settings in the ccc must be by default or by application controlled.I also use an Amd graphic card.

I,ve got also the issued that when i turn vsync on i get a bad flickering on the half of the screen, but maybe thats about why i used crossfire.

A question, how much vram have you spend in the bios for the hd3200 ?Cause is not realy that powerhorse for the very nice looking graphics in LoG.
