New trait suggestion, start as a Bear.

You are permanently a bear, bear potions change you to the race you selected in creation, you can not use equipped weapons/shields and do not gain their passive effects.
This of course means that you do not gain completion bonuses from shields when in bear form, unlike the actual bear form where you keep shield effects.

Bear potions last half as long, when out of bear form you can do anything you'd normally be able to including cast spells, your strength is halved for the duration.
This bear form is different from the potion, you get 1 additional point of strength for every point of strength gained after creation, this replaces the 50 points of strength from bear potion.

Could there be an even more boring way to play then with a character that has 50+ strength right from the start?

I might have not fully read your last sentence but after i did i stay by my judgement: it's boring, even when starting strength is not 50+.

Your bear is literaly a Barbarian on steroids. Why else would you want "Bear" as a trait and not a class or race? Awarding 2 extra strength points for every point of strength gained - even when it's after creation only - means each time a Barbarian levels he gains 3(!) strength instead of just 1 which is already overkill. Same goes for strength potions because their effect tripples. I'd be plain stupid to not feed him each and every strength potion i can make or find and be past strength 50 in no time.

Also why should i even make bear respectively "out-of-bear" potions? Absolutely no reason for that. Complete waste of time and resources. You're a bear, go and shred something to bits!

because not everyone wants to min/max like you do.

That "gain 1 get 2 free" approach is all about min/maxing with mutating Ratling Barbarian-Bears taking over.

I should have worded it better, what I meant was instead of gaining 1 strength, you get 2.

I could see like a Werebear class. Someone else had suggested Catfolk similar to the ones seen in Wizardry (and probably other games, but Wizardry is where I saw them first). Some cool suggestions for the Catfolk too. I think with a mod, making Catpeople or Bear people (or even Bear trait) might be entirely possible. It's way beyond my own skill, but this forum has a lot of talented folks!
