Grimrock

So, I was assembling my secret ending + trickster fight video, when I came across something interesting in the cinematic:

That isn't that interesting. What IS interesting is the page showing Mount Grimrock and the layout of the Prison...

I think it is interesting because worlds of fantasy games usually do not make direct references to real world terrain. It opens many possibilities to the interpretation of the Legend of Grimrock franchise universe. Does the game take place in some strange post-apocalyptic future where mankind and mutants battle an evil A.I. that had been imprisoned deep underground? Or does the game take place far in the past, in a lost age when humans were not the only sentient species? (Unless the map is just meant to be an Easter Egg for fun)

That's pretty nice too, yes, though I'd seen that the first time I saw the cinematic, unlike the world map. I reference both in the video.

That's pretty weird. I wonder if it's a joke or if there's a link to Earth somehow. Maybe in Grimrock 3 we'll find the Statue of Liberty!

Look at the map, each ancient structure points to its location and they're all real-world accurate except the middle Egyptian one which has a second location on Antarctica! So maybe we find a connection between all of them and then accidently summon the "real builders".

Three ancient pyramids have been discovered in the Antarctic by a team of American and European scientists. Two of the pyramids were discovered about 16 kilometers inland, while the third one was very close to the coastline. An expedition to the bizarre structures should answer the intriguing question whether they are artificial or natural.
