3d - disable shadows?

Post by awk »

I really enjoyed LoG and it looked very good in 3d. I was able to balance depth with convergence fairly well as tunnels stretching a long way are fairly dark as intended. The helix mod and disabling shadows made this work really well. I've purchased LoG2 and unfortunately I haven't seen a 3d mod created yet. However, other than issues with shadows it looks pretty good out of the box. Even the water which is notorious for being an issue doesn't look bad at all. I tried setting shadowQuality = 0 which wasn't valid and I'm not seeing anything else obvious in the .cfg or options in game to do this.

I'm pretty sure it's the same as in LoG1; you can turn off dynamic ones by setting shadow quality to "Low", and you can turn off most shadows altogether by setting render quality to "Low". Of course, the latter will also turn off shaders, most lighting, etc...

If you're willing to fiddle with the debug console, you could try attaching a LightComponent to the party to make things brighter. But I haven't tried this myself yet, and even if it works it would obviously cause a performance hit, so not ideal.

Render to low did the trick. I didn't even think to try that as I was just thinking it would lower the details rather than just eliminating effects like shadows etc. Thanks so much for the help. LoG2 looks really good in 3d.

I've been playing this for a few days now in stereoscopic 3d and just wanted to say thanks to the Devs. I'm not sure if you test this or not for 3d, but it plays and looks very good...amazing at times.(The tunnel ogres in LoG1 with the helix mod were simply stunning). Although I'm not certain what I'm missing out on with configuring render to low it is definitely worth it to me. The landscape, the mobs, everything I have seen so far is great. I am very impressed and will absolutely recommend this game to other people.

The only negative thing I can say so far is the fact that you provided me with a shovel so now I'm digging holes everywhere thinking I'm going to miss out on something :).
