level 4 help "Spoilers"

Need help! On level 4 on there are 4 different portals, with 4 different puzzles to open the main door, i'm stuck on the puzzle "Time and Tide" the one where you have to throw throwing daggers into the portal to open up the platforms, well...i threw the daggers, but they didn't land on the right spot, when you go in there, you can stand on a platform, turn left and you will see a metal gate, well my throwing knives landed there, and i can't pick them up, so it's now impossible to move fowards in the level...Or is it? thats why i'm asking you guys, how can i get them back?

Don't throw them "freehand". Put them in someone's hand and use attack-throw.

Getting behind the gate is actually one of the game's secrets. If you throw something (not just knives) into the portal, they should land on the pressure plate and close the pits. This is how you proceed with the level. However, if you now place a rock or something on the timed portal pressure plate, and step through the portal when it appears, you'll find yourself behind the gate where you can retrieve any items you may have lost (as well as collect the reward for discovering the secret area).
