Is there such thing as an "optimized" refresh rate?

Hello.

First things first. I have an nVidia card (GTX 660Ti) and I always have vertical sync forced enabled on my driver control panel + triple buffering.

My monitor has got both 60 Hz and 75 Hz refresh rates. Is 60 better than the current 75 Hz for vsync ON gaming? Will LoG2 run better if I edit config and set maximum frame rate (hard) to 60fps?

Is there any relation at all? When using Vsync is always better using the higher refresh rate? Does refresh rate have to be a multiple of 30/60/120 and so on?

I want to hear your opinions.

If you are using triple buffering, your framerate doesn't have to be a multiple of your refresh rate - that's the advantage of it over "regular" VSync. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiple_b ... _buffering

Only if you prefer lower framerates to higher ones. Since you have a GTX 660Ti, I assume that is not the case.

Setting the max framerate to match your refresh rate normally won't make a game run better, but it does potentially get rid of "wasted" CPU and GPU cycles rendering frames that can't be seen.

I have made a real world test and LoG2 seems to be running slightly better with everything set at 60fps. At least, input lag seems to be almost gone. And 60fps is smooth enough for me. I don't notice any smoothness difference from 75Hz either. I prefer not having input lag.

I will keep testing.

EDIT:

Well the input lag issue seems to come and go. I am still testing to see if I can pinpoint the issue. Could it be that nVidia's Triple Buffer implementation is bad? I am still testing.
